Prepping for Mercury Retrograde

Mercury’s Retrograde Shadow Period

We are now in Mercury’s retrograde shadow period which began on July 16th. This retrograde occurs in the sign of Leo and I will talk more about that during the week Mercury turns retrograde on August 5th.

These last two weeks of July are a great time to do, what I call, Mercury retrograde “prep work.” Since Mercury rules communication, its retrograde can sometimes wreak havoc with technology, computer systems, and travel plans.

So, I think it’s a perfect time to take care of all the electronics you work with, for example, back up all your systems, change your passwords, and double-check any upcoming travel itineraries. 

If you’re thinking about buying a new computer or a new phone, I suggest doing it now before Mercury returns retrograde. Usually when you make a big electronic purchase during the retrograde, that usually does not work out well. You could potentially end up returning the computer or it may break down at the worst moment.

This week the Sun enters Leo on July 22nd and will oppose Pluto, which is currently retrograde in Aquarius. Pluto rules transformation or what many people often refer to as the death and rebirth cycle.

Given that Leo is all about helping us express ourselves or our light, you can use this energy to brainstorm ideas about updating your brand if you’ve been thinking about revising the look of your website or your merchandise.

It's a great time even to reflect on upgrading your own personal wardrobe or style.
